Off We Go (Again!)

We're heading to Canada for a cruise with my siblings and spouses.  Since most readers seemed to tolerate my blog covering our recent trip to Italy, I thought I might as well do a bit of writing about our cruise in Canada, which starts in a few days.  This time I'm trying to streamline my publication process by using the Blogger platform. The big advantage for me is that it gives me instant access to photos taken on my phone without having to manually upload them.  That hopefully will make it a bit easier to post pictures, and I know everyone likes pictures! I've had a Blogger (or Blogspot as it's sometimes known) account for a long time but I haven't made use of it for many years.  Back in the early 2000s, I had a few clients get hoodwinked by a very nasty scam where people thought they were getting a Yellow Pages advertisement (remember the Yellow Pages?) when in fact they were paying hundreds of dollars for nothing.  The scammers were really ruthless and threatened all kinds of legal action if the marks didn't pay up.  I put up a Blogger page to provide information on what the scam was about and how people were getting out of it.  At some point I got a call from the Federal Trade Commission and they ended up going after the scammers and pretty well put them out of business.  And that was my last adventure on Blogger until now.  This should be a somewhat happier subject that a Yellow Pages scam.  

As with our Italy blog, there is a comment feature.  We always enjoy reading the comments if you are so inclined. 

We will be cruising on the M.S. Volendam.  The cruise will start in Montreal, and end in Boston. Along the way we will visit Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Sydney, Halifax, and Bar Harbor.  This time of year we probably won't be out tanning by the pool, but it should be good crisp spring weather.

Hello from Quebec!  We really enjoyed staying in old Montreal with it's beautifully preserved stone buildings and cobblestone streets.  Yesterday we boarded our ship, the Volendam, waved goodbye to Montreal, and headed north up the St. Lawrence River towards the ancient walled city of Quebec, where we arrived at about 7 AM today.   Quebec is even more historic than Montreal.  It's really a feast for the eyes. Bonjour Montreal!

We had an uneventful flight from LAX to Montreal with a stop and plane change at Washington Dulles airport.  We got up at 3:30 a.m PDT and it took us most of the day to fly to Montreal when you add the time zones. We caught an Uber from the Montreal airport.  Light rain on the way in.  Our Uber vehicle was a Tesla with autopilot controls.  Our driver assured us that she didn't trust the autopilot and then went back to her crossword puzzle.  (Not really; she was a very attentive, good driver.).  We're staying at the Hotel William Gray located in the oldest part of Montreal. The hotel is just wonderful.  Our room is light and airy, and they left us a tray of delicious macaroons as a welcoming gift.  Super comfy bed with really nice sheets. And the shower is fantastic.
